What is a glutathione injection and how does it work?
Glutathione is an antioxidant your body makes every day. In the skin it slows tyrosinase, the enzyme that makes dark pigment, which is why it is used to brighten and even skin tone. A glutathione injection gives it straight into a vein as a slow drip over 40–45 minutes, usually with vitamin C, while you sit back and relax. People also call it a gluta drip or whitening injection. It brightens your own tone; it does not change your natural skin colour.
Glutathione injection benefits
- A brighter, more even tone: the main reason people choose it, seen over a course in those who respond.
- A healthy glow: skin that looks fresher and more radiant.
- Antioxidant support: glutathione is one of the body’s own antioxidants.
- No downtime: back to your day straight after each drip.
- Genuine, sealed brands: every vial is opened in front of you.
- Works with your skin plan: it adds to sunscreen, peels and laser rather than replacing them.
Skin whitening injection: what it can and can’t do
Most people looking for a skin whitening injection want a brighter, more even version of their own skin, and that is the honest goal. In people who respond, glutathione lifts dullness and softens a tan, but it cannot change the colour you were born with, melasma and dark spots need treatments that work on the pigment itself, and the effect fades once sessions stop. Evidence for the drip is still limited and it is not approved specifically for skin whitening, so our doctors screen your health first and pair it with sunscreen and, where needed, a peel or pico laser.
Glutathione injection before and after
If your skin responds, it looks fresher and brighter after a few weekly sessions, and the change builds through the course. In a placebo-controlled trial in Pakistan, 37.5% of people given glutathione with vitamin C twice a week for six weeks responded with lighter skin, so not everyone sees a change, and we review your progress honestly at each visit. Our patients share their own results in the videos below.

Who shouldn’t have glutathione injections?
Glutathione injections aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with liver or kidney disease, asthma or a history of allergic reactions, or during cancer treatment. Your doctor reviews your health and medicines before your first session.
Your glutathione injection, step by step
- Free consultation: your doctor checks your health, skin and goals, and whether glutathione suits you.
- Preparation: a sealed vial is opened in front of you and a fine cannula placed in a vein in your arm.
- Drip: a slow infusion while you relax, taking 40–45 minutes.
- Course: usually weekly sessions, about ten in all.
- Review: your doctor checks your progress and adjusts your skin plan.
Results and recovery
You go straight back to your day, with at most a small bruise where the cannula went in. Skin that responds looks brighter after a few sessions; the change fades gradually once the course ends, so daily sunscreen and occasional top-ups help you keep it. Tell the clinic at once about any rash, itching, breathlessness or stomach upset.
Aftercare
