What is gynecomastia treatment and how does it work?
Man boobs have two main causes. Gynecomastia, also spelt gynaecomastia, is growth of real breast gland, often linked to hormones, puberty, age, weight, some medicines or anabolic steroids, while a fatty chest is fat alone. Gynecomastia treatment without surgery: fat or gland?
Without surgery, only the fat part of a full chest can be reduced. Gland usually feels like a firm, rubbery disc right behind the nipple, while fat feels soft and spreads across the chest, and many men have a mix. CoolSculpting or fat dissolving injections reduce the fat; a specialist may prescribe medicine for recent, painful gland growth after tests; and long-standing gland or loose, drooping skin needs surgery, so our doctors refer you to a surgeon.

Who shouldn’t have gynecomastia treatment without surgery?
Fat treatments aren’t right for true gland tissue, a new or one-sided lump, nipple discharge or a breast that stays painful, all of which need medical checks first. Fat freezing isn’t done if cold triggers a blood problem, as in cryoglobulinaemia, and injections wait with liver or kidney disease. Tell your doctor about any medicines, supplements or steroids.
