Glutathione Peel

Glutathione Peel

Is your skin looking flat and tired, with patches darker than the rest of your face? A glutathione peel is a brightening peel that pairs glutathione, an antioxidant your body makes naturally, with gentle exfoliating acids, so dull surface cells lift away and your skin looks fresher, brighter and more even.

Best for dull skin, uneven tone and mild sun-related dark patches.

How does a glutathione peel work?

The acids in the peel lift away dull surface cells, so fresher, brighter skin shows through. Glutathione is an antioxidant shown in lab studies to slow the enzyme your skin uses to make dark pigment, adding a brightening boost on top.

In a placebo-controlled trial, women who used a 2% glutathione lotion twice a day for 10 weeks had measurably less pigment than with a placebo, and their skin became smoother and better hydrated too. It brightens and evens tone; it does not change your natural skin colour.

Who shouldn’t have a glutathione peel?

It isn’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you are allergic to its ingredients, or with sunburnt, broken or infected skin, or soon after a laser or other peel. Your doctor checks this at your consultation.

Glutathione peel, step by step

  1. Free consultation: your doctor checks your skin tone, pigment and goals.
  2. Preparation: the skin is cleansed; some people start a prep cream 2–4 weeks before.
  3. Treatment: the peel is applied, timed and removed, taking about 30–45 minutes.
  4. Course: usually 2–3 peels, about four weeks apart.
  5. Maintenance: a top-up peel every few months, with daily sunscreen.

Results and recovery

Your skin looks fresher and more radiant within days of the first peel. Uneven tone then softens steadily over the course, and daily sunscreen keeps that brighter look going for longer.

Mild redness, tightness or light flaking can last a few days, and most people go back to work the same day. The glow fades over time, so a regular top-up peel keeps your skin looking even.

Aftercare

  • No make-up for 12–24 hours
  • Don’t pick or peel flaking skin
  • Pause retinol and scrubs for a few days
  • Wear sunscreen every day

Glutathione peel: your questions answered

The price depends on the peel strength your skin needs and the number of sessions. You get the full price at your free consultation, before anything is done. Most people have two to three peels, so ask for the price of the whole course.

Yes, if you want brighter, fresher-looking skin with little downtime: it is a gentle peel that fits easily into a busy month. It won’t clear deep pigment such as melasma on its own, and for stubborn patches a picosecond laser does more.

Not really. Most people feel mild tingling or warmth for a few minutes while the peel is on, and it fades soon after the peel comes off.

Your skin looks fresher within a few days. Uneven tone keeps improving, with the clearest change after two to three peels, about four weeks apart.

Usually a few months, depending on sun exposure and your skincare. Many people keep their glow going with a top-up peel every few months and sunscreen every day.

Yes, it is well tolerated, and studies of glutathione on the skin report few side effects, though safety data are still limited. Expect mild redness or flaking for a few days. Sun protection lowers the risk of dark marks.

No. It brightens dull skin and softens patches, so your own tone looks clearer and healthier. No peel can safely change your natural skin colour, and that is not its aim.

A peel works on the skin’s surface, with gentle exfoliation for a fresher look within days. Glutathione drips are given into a vein. Your doctor will explain what each can realistically do for your skin.

It can soften mild patches as part of a wider plan. Melasma needs daily sun protection and often prescription creams; for stubborn patches your doctor may suggest a carbon laser peel or another option.

Usually two to three, about four weeks apart, then a top-up every few months. Your doctor sets the plan after looking at your skin and reviews it at each visit.

Yes, with the right peel strength. Darker skin can mark if a peel is too strong, so your doctor starts gently and adjusts. Daily sunscreen and not picking flaking skin lower the risk further.

Yes, it is a lovely pre-wedding brightener. Start about three months before, so you can complete two to three peels four weeks apart, and have your last peel at least a week before the day, so any flaking has settled.
