Body RF

Body RF

Did losing weight or having a baby leave the skin on your tummy, arms or thighs looser than you’d like? Body radiofrequency is a non-surgical skin-tightening treatment: soothing radiofrequency warms the deeper skin, so collagen tightens and renews, and your skin turns firmer and smoother over a course of relaxing, no-downtime sessions.

Best for loose skin, uneven contours and dimpled skin on the body.

How does body radiofrequency work?

Radiofrequency is a form of energy that warms tissue as it passes through. A smooth handpiece glides over your skin with a gel, heating the deeper skin and the layer beneath to a set temperature while the surface stays comfortable. No needles go in, and nothing is cut.

That warmth makes collagen fibres contract at once, then sparks fresh collagen in the months that follow, and repeated sessions can also trim the fat layer. Devices and settings differ, so your doctor tailors the course to your skin for the firmest result.

Who shouldn’t have body radiofrequency?

It isn’t suitable during pregnancy, with a pacemaker or other electronic implant, with metal implants in the area, or with broken or infected skin there. Very loose skin after major weight loss needs surgery instead. Your doctor checks this at your consultation.

Body radiofrequency, step by step

  1. Free consultation: your doctor examines the area and plans the number of sessions.
  2. Preparation: the skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is applied.
  3. Treatment: the warm handpiece glides over each area for about 30–45 minutes.
  4. Course: usually 5–8 sessions, 1–2 weeks apart.
  5. Top-up: a session every few months keeps your skin firm.

Results and recovery

Skin can look tighter after the first few sessions, and the change keeps building through your course. Collagen goes on renewing for up to three months after your last session, which is when your full, firmer result shows.

Your skin is usually warm and pink for an hour or two, and you go straight back to normal life. Blisters or burns are uncommon when the settings are right. A steady weight keeps your result going longer.

Aftercare

  • Carry on with normal life and exercise
  • Drink water and keep your skin moisturised
  • Skin may feel warm for an hour or two
  • Keep pink skin out of strong sun that day

Body radiofrequency: your questions answered

The price depends on the size of the area and the number of sessions your skin needs. Your doctor confirms the full price at your free consultation, before anything is done. A course is usually five to eight sessions, so ask for the price of the whole course.

For mildly loose skin and uneven contours, yes: it firms the skin naturally, with zero downtime and no needles. It won’t lift heavy folds of skin after big weight loss. For a stubborn bulge of fat rather than loose skin, fat freezing suits you better.

No, most people find it relaxing, a lot like a warm massage. The skin gets hot, and your doctor keeps it at a safe, comfortable temperature. Say if any spot feels too hot, and it is adjusted straight away.

Skin can feel firmer after the first few sessions. The result builds through the course and peaks about three months after the final session, once fresh collagen has formed.

Several months to a year or more, depending on your age, skin and weight. Skin keeps ageing, so a top-up session every few months keeps it firm and smooth.

Yes, in trained hands with the right settings. Warmth and pinkness for an hour or two are normal. Blisters, burns or lumps under the skin are rare. It isn’t used during pregnancy or with a pacemaker.

Yes, for mild to moderate looseness, including after medical weight loss such as Mounjaro. It works best once your weight has been steady for a while. Large overhanging folds usually need surgery.

Both firm skin with heat. Body radiofrequency warms the skin evenly over a longer course of gentle sessions. Body HIFU focuses ultrasound deeper in fewer sessions and also reaches small pockets of fat. Your doctor helps you choose.

Yes. Radiofrequency skin tightening uses the same kind of energy on the face, jaw, neck and around the eyes, with smaller handpieces suited to thinner facial skin.

Yes, it makes dimpled skin look smoother by firming the skin over it, and top-ups keep it that way. No treatment removes cellulite for good. For a plan built for dimpled skin, see cellulite reduction.

Usually five to eight, one to two weeks apart; looser skin or larger areas need a few more. Your doctor agrees the plan with you and suggests top-ups to keep the result.

Yes, and there is no downtime to plan around. Start your course three or four months ahead, so the sessions are over and collagen has had time to build. A top-up shortly before the day is fine.
