TCA Peel for Anti-Ageing

TCA Peel for Anti-Ageing

Do fine lines, rough texture or sun spots make your skin look older than you feel? A TCA peel is a medium-depth chemical peel: your doctor applies trichloroacetic acid to lift away tired, sun-damaged outer layers, so smoother, brighter, more even skin grows back in just one to two weeks.

Best for fine lines, sun damage and rough, uneven skin, often in one session.

Dull, tired-looking skinBrighter, fresher skin.

How does a TCA peel work?

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a long-established peeling acid. At medium strength it works through the top layer of skin into the upper part of the layer beneath, where fine lines and sun damage sit. It is deeper than a glycolic acid peel, so one session delivers more change, though it does not lift sagging skin or fill hollows.

As the acid works, the skin turns briefly white, called frosting. Over the next days it darkens, tightens and peels away, and this controlled healing switches on new collagen, so the fresh skin underneath is smoother and more even. Deeper peels give bigger changes but need longer recovery.

Who shouldn’t have a TCA peel?

It isn’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with broken skin, an infection or a cold sore in the area, if you scar easily, take isotretinoin (Roaccutane) or can’t avoid the sun while healing. Your doctor checks this at your consultation.

Your TCA peel, step by step

  1. Free consultation: your doctor checks your skin type, health and goals, and chooses the strength.
  2. Skin preparation: you may use a prescribed cream for 2–4 weeks to lower the risk of dark patches.
  3. Treatment: the skin is cleansed and the acid applied evenly, taking 30–45 minutes.
  4. Healing: skin darkens, then peels; it is usually healed in 1–2 weeks.
  5. Follow-up: your doctor checks your healing; a repeat peel, if needed, comes months later.

Results and recovery

Once your skin has healed, usually in one to two weeks, it looks smoother, brighter and more even, and texture keeps improving for months. With daily sun protection, your fresh result lasts many months.

Redness, swelling and peeling are normal for about a week. In brown skin, temporary dark patches are the main risk, so preparation, strict sun protection and hands-off healing lower it. Scarring is rare in trained hands.

Aftercare

  • No make-up for 5–7 days, until skin heals
  • Don’t pick or peel flaking skin
  • Keep skin moist with the cream you’re given
  • Avoid the sun; then sunscreen every day

TCA peel: your questions answered

It depends on the peel strength, the area treated and whether your skin needs preparing first. You get a clear price at your free consultation, before any treatment, so there are no surprises.

Yes, if fine lines, sun damage and rough texture bother you and you can allow a week or two to heal: one TCA peel delivers more change than a light peel. If you can’t take any downtime, a glycolic acid peel course is the better fit.

It stings and feels hot for a few minutes while the acid works, and a fan and cool compresses ease it. Afterwards your skin feels tight and tender for a few days, and simple pain relief is usually enough.

You see the result as soon as your skin has healed, usually in one to two weeks, and texture and tone keep improving over the next few months as your skin renews.

Results last many months. Skin keeps ageing and the sun keeps damaging it, so they are not permanent, but daily sunscreen helps them last, and some people repeat the peel later.

Yes, when a trained doctor chooses the right strength for your skin. Redness, swelling and peeling for about a week are normal. Temporary dark patches are the main risk in brown skin; infection, a cold-sore flare and scarring are uncommon.

Yes, with the right care. Brown skin, common in Pakistan, darkens more easily after a peel, so your doctor may prepare your skin for 2–4 weeks first, choose the strength carefully and ask you to avoid the sun strictly.

A TCA peel goes deeper in one session and needs one to two weeks to heal. A glycolic acid peel is lighter, with little downtime, but works over a course. Your doctor matches the depth to your skin and your diary.

This peel is designed for fine lines and sun damage. Acne scars need a different technique: see TCA peel for acne scars, or Microneedling RF for deeper scars.

Yes, it lightens sun spots and evens out tone. Melasma is trickier and often comes back, so your doctor may prefer a gentler course, such as our glycolic peel for pigmentation.

Don’t pick or pull peeling skin, as this can scar. Stay out of the sun until you have healed, skip make-up for five to seven days, and avoid scrubs, retinol, saunas and steam until your doctor says so.

Yes, with good timing. Have it at least two months before the day, so peeling has finished, redness has settled and your fresh skin is ready for photos. Avoid it in the final month, and choose a light peel for a last-minute glow.
