Dur e Shahwar chose Ultraformer for lifted skin and a sharper jawline.
What is HIFU treatment and how does it work?
HIFU stands for high-intensity focused ultrasound. A handpiece focuses ultrasound energy onto tiny points at set depths under the skin, down to the firm support layer that a surgeon tightens in a facelift, while the surface stays intact. Each point of heat tightens existing collagen and starts a repair response, so new collagen forms over the following weeks. We use Ultraformer, a HIFU system from South Korea, and your doctor chooses the depths for each area of your face and neck.
HIFU treatment benefits
- A lift without surgery: no cuts, stitches or general anaesthetic.
- A natural-looking change: it builds gradually, so nobody sees a “done” look.
- Usually one session: then a top-up about once a year.
- Little downtime: most people go back to work the same day.
- Several areas in one visit: brows, cheeks, jawline and neck together.
- Kind to brown skin: ultrasound doesn’t target the pigment in your skin.
HIFU as a non-surgical facelift
If you want a lifted face without surgery, HIFU is one of the main non-surgical face lifting treatments. It reaches the same deep layer as a surgical facelift, but without cutting, so the change is subtler: a firmer jawline, slightly higher brows and cheeks, and tighter skin under the chin. It suits mild to moderate sagging. Very loose skin or heavy jowls respond less, and a thread lift or surgery gives more lift.
HIFU before and after
A light tightening can show on the day, but the real change builds over two to three months as new collagen forms, so compare photos at three months, not the next morning. In studies, brows lifted by up to about 2 mm, most people had firmer skin at three months, and results held for at least a year. Our patients share their own results in the videos below.

Who shouldn’t have HIFU?
HIFU isn’t suitable during pregnancy, with an infection, open wound or severe active acne in the area, or with a pacemaker or metal implant there. Tell your doctor about recent fillers or threads in the area. Very loose skin may need surgery instead, and your doctor checks all of this at your consultation.
Your HIFU treatment, step by step
- Free consultation: your doctor checks how loose your skin is and maps the areas to treat.
- Preparation: the skin is cleansed and marked, with numbing cream if you’d like it.
- Treatment: lines of ultrasound pulses at set depths, about 30 minutes for one area and 60–90 for the face and neck.
- Results: skin tightens gradually, with the main result at two to three months.
- Top-up: usually once a year to keep your lift.
Results and recovery
Mild redness or swelling usually settles within hours to a few days, and the treated areas can feel tender for a few days. Tingling or numbness is uncommon and fades. Most people go back to work the same day, and the lift keeps building quietly over the next few months, so the change looks like you on a good day rather than a different face.
Aftercare
- Make-up is fine the same day
- Skip sauna and steam for 24–48 hours
- Be gentle with tender areas for a few days
- Wear sunscreen every day
