What is double chin treatment and how does it work?
Double chin treatment reduces the fat under your chin, firms the skin there, or both, without surgery. Your doctor first pinches the area to see whether fat or loose skin is the main cause, because each needs a different tool. Aqualyx injections and CoolSculpting fat freezing destroy fat cells, which your body then clears over the following weeks. HIFU focused ultrasound and radiofrequency heat the deeper layers so collagen tightens loose skin, and radiofrequency also helps with mild fullness over a course.

Double chin removal: which method suits you?
It depends on what makes up your double chin. For small or uneven pockets of fat, Aqualyx fat-dissolving injections can be shaped closely, usually over two or more sessions. Who shouldn’t have double chin treatment?
Treatment waits during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and isn’t done over a skin infection, or with a bleeding disorder or swallowing problems. Fat freezing is avoided with cold-related conditions such as cold urticaria, and HIFU or radiofrequency with a pacemaker or a metal implant in the area. Heavy sagging or a lot of fat may need surgery instead. Your doctor checks all of this at your consultation.
Your double chin treatment, step by step

- Your plan: one method or two, with the sessions and the full price agreed first.
- Preparation: the area is cleansed and marked, with ice or numbing cream for comfort.
- Treatment: about 15 minutes for radiofrequency, 30 for Aqualyx or HIFU and 45 for fat freezing.
- Review: the final result is judged two to three months after your last session.
Results and recovery
Recovery depends on the method. After Aqualyx, swelling, tenderness or firm spots under the chin are common for one to two weeks; after fat freezing, numbness and mild swelling settle over a few weeks. HIFU and radiofrequency leave only redness or tenderness for hours to days. Rarely, a nerve near the jaw is irritated after injections, giving an uneven smile that recovers on its own. Treated fat cells don’t return, so your slimmer chin lasts while your weight stays stable.
